Micro Lipo Fat Removal
Our signature Micro Lipo is a gentle procedure with an easy recovery. Designed for small/micro pockets of fat only under local anaesthetic. Prices starts from £2800
Revolutionary Micro Lipo for Fat Pockets
Micro Lipo is our signature gentle fat removal designed for those who want a minimal fuss, local anaesthetic procedure. Suitable for small stubborn collections of fat for those who want to be able to walk out and go home after the procedure. We only use a small cannula (2.5 or 3mm) that vibrates rapidly, gently breaking down fat cells for easier and more precise extraction. This leads to smoother results, reduced trauma and quicker recovery times.
For patients requiring treatment of larger areas or greater fat reduction, VASER liposuction London may be the more appropriate option.
At Contoura Medical, we leverage gentle lipo technology to meticulously sculpt various 1-2 areas of the body, through tiny 2-3mm holes, no cutting, addressing stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise. Suitable for up to 1-1.5 litres of fat removal. Dr Edwin Anthony GMC 4776646 ensures a personalised approach, delivering natural-looking and transformative outcomes.

Book A ConsultationMicro Lipo is power-assisted liposuction under local anaesthetic for one or two small pockets of stubborn fat, removing up to about 1 to 1.5 litres. It suits adults near their goal weight, and Dr Edwin Anthony performs it at Langham Hospital, Marylebone, London.
What Micro Lipo is and how it works
Micro Lipo is the smallest procedure in our VASER family, and it works slightly differently from the others. Instead of ultrasound, it uses a fine power-assisted cannula, usually 2.5 to 3 mm across, that vibrates rapidly. The vibration helps free fat cells so they can be removed with less force, which gives Dr Anthony fine control over small areas and keeps treatment time efficient.
The cannula enters through tiny entry points of 2 to 3 mm, so no cutting or stitching is needed. It is still a surgical procedure, carried out under sterile conditions in a hospital setting, but you stay awake and walk out afterwards.
Which small areas suit Micro Lipo
- A small pocket on the upper or lower abdomen
- Flanks, or love handles
- Bra line bulge or the bulge near the armpit
- Inner knees
- Mons pubis
- Chin and neck, or upper arms, in selected cases
Treatment is limited to one or two areas in a session. If you have more to treat, or a larger volume, Vaser Lipo or Vaser 4D Lipo will usually be the safer and more effective choice.
Who it suits
Micro Lipo is designed for adults aged 18 and over who are already close to their goal weight but have a small area that will not shift with diet, exercise or weight-loss medication. Reasonable skin quality helps the area settle smoothly. It is not a weight-loss treatment, and the NHS makes the same point about liposuction generally. If crepey or loose skin is part of the concern, Dr Anthony will talk about whether skin tightening is needed as well.
Micro Lipo, Vaser Lipo or Vaser 4D Lipo?
| Factor | Micro Lipo | Vaser Lipo | Vaser 4D Lipo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technology | Power-assisted vibrating cannula | VASER ultrasound | VASER ultrasound |
| Anaesthetic | Local anaesthetic | Local anaesthetic | Mainly IV sedation with local anaesthetic |
| Areas per session | 1 to 2 small areas | Up to five | Several, with larger volumes |
| Typical volume | Up to about 1 to 1.5 litres | Moderate | Larger |
| Return to desk work | 2 to 5 days | About a week | About 5 days |
On the day
- Dr Anthony confirms the plan and marks the area with you standing.
- Local anaesthetic is introduced to numb the area. You remain awake, and most people find this very tolerable.
- The vibrating cannula removes the fat through the tiny entry points, and the edges are smoothed so the area blends in.
- Your compression garment is fitted, and you walk out and go home the same day.
Recovery
- Same day: walking and gentle movement at home.
- Days 2 to 5: most people return to desk-based work, sometimes sooner for very small areas.
- Weeks 1 to 2: light exercise resumes.
- Weeks 3 to 4: higher-intensity training, guided by how you are healing.
- Weeks 3 to 6: compression helps swelling go down and the skin settle smoothly.
- Weeks 6 to 12: the result becomes clear, with some areas refining for 3 to 6 months.
Some swelling and firmness in the first few weeks is normal and not a sign that anything has gone wrong.
Risks and safety
Micro Lipo is smaller in scale than the other procedures, but it is still surgery. Possible effects include bruising, swelling, numbness or altered sensation, contour irregularity, seroma, infection, pigmentation change and, rarely, blood clots. Careful assessment, sterile technique and aftercare keep these risks low.
- A nationwide study of 69,424 liposuction patients found complication rates of 1.7% with power-assisted liposuction and 1.5% with conventional liposuction.
- Earlier data from 31,010 cosmetic liposuction procedures put the major complication rate for liposuction performed on its own at 0.7%.
Results vary between people and cannot be promised. Removed fat cells do not grow back, but significant weight gain can change the shape again.

Frequently asked questions
What is Micro Lipo?
Micro Lipo is a power-assisted liposuction technique that uses a fine vibrating cannula, usually 2.5 to 3 mm, to remove small pockets of stubborn fat. It is done under local anaesthetic, treats one or two areas per session and removes up to about 1 to 1.5 litres. You stay awake and go home the same day.
How is Micro Lipo different from Vaser Lipo?
Micro Lipo uses a vibrating power-assisted cannula, while Vaser Lipo uses ultrasound energy to loosen fat first. Micro Lipo is limited to one or two small areas and smaller volumes. Vaser Lipo can treat up to five areas in a session. Dr Anthony recommends whichever suits the size and number of areas you want treated.
Which areas count as small areas?
Common examples are a small pocket on the upper or lower abdomen, the flanks, bra line or armpit bulge, inner knees and the mons pubis. The chin and neck or upper arms can be suitable in selected cases. At consultation Dr Anthony maps each area clearly so you know exactly what will be treated.
Is Micro Lipo painful under local anaesthetic?
The local anaesthetic numbs the treated area, so you feel pressure and vibration rather than sharp pain. Most patients find it very tolerable and stay relaxed throughout. Afterwards the area feels sore and firm for a few days, which usually settles with simple pain relief and wearing the compression garment as advised.
Am I a good candidate for Micro Lipo?
You may be suitable if you are an adult close to your goal weight with a small fat pocket that has not changed with diet, exercise or weight-loss medication. It is a small fat removal procedure, not a way to lose weight. If you have several areas or a larger volume, a VASER procedure is likely to fit better.
What is recovery like after Micro Lipo?
Most people walk the same day, return to desk-based work in two to five days and resume light exercise at one to two weeks. Higher-intensity training usually follows at three to four weeks. Compression is typically worn for three to six weeks. Swelling and firmness early on are expected and gradually fade.
How much does Micro Lipo cost?
The price depends on how many areas are treated. Current figures are on our price list, and Dr Anthony confirms your full price in writing after consultation. The price typically covers the pre-operative assessment, the procedure, standard local anaesthetic, routine follow-up and clinical support, while compression garments and some medicines may be extra.
Will Micro Lipo leave scars?
The entry points are only 2 to 3 mm and are placed discreetly, often in natural creases. They are usually a little pink at first and fade well over the following months. How they heal varies with skin type, so mention any history of raised or darker scarring at your consultation.
When will I see my Micro Lipo result?
Early change is visible once bruising settles, but the true result is usually judged at six to twelve weeks. Some areas continue to refine for three to six months. Fat cells removed do not grow back, so the result is long-lasting as long as your weight stays reasonably stable.
