Contoura Medical is a doctor-led body contouring and skin tightening practice at Langham Hospital, Marylebone, London. Dr Edwin Anthony, a GMC-registered cosmetic surgeon, personally performs every procedure for adults with stubborn fat, lipoedema, gynaecomastia or loose skin.

What we treat

Most of our work is VASER liposuction and the skin tightening that often goes with it. VASER uses ultrasound energy to loosen fat before it is removed through fine cannulas, which helps protect surrounding tissue. It is surgery, even when done under local anaesthetic, and it is not a weight-loss treatment.

VASER family: Micro Lipo for small areas under local anaesthetic, Vaser Lipo, Vaser 4D Lipo, Vaser 360 Lipo for the whole torso, and Vaser Hi-Def for athletic definition.

How the consultation works

Choose a format. A video consultation (£85) suits a first conversation. An in-clinic consultation (£125) includes examination. The advanced consultation with ultrasound (£295) measures fat and skin thickness where the plan depends on it.
Assessment. Dr Anthony takes your medical history, examines the areas, and takes standardised photographs.
Honest options. He explains what is realistic, including when a non-surgical option or a tummy tuck would suit you better.
Written quote. The full price, with theatre fees and IV sedation itemised where needed, is confirmed in writing. You can compare it with our price list.
Time to decide. You go home with the information and decide in your own time. There is no pressure to book on the day.

Serious complications from liposuction are uncommon. A US study of 246,119 procedures in accredited facilities found an overall confirmed complication rate of 0.40%, published in Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum.
The NHS advises avoiding strenuous activity for 10 to 12 weeks after liposuction, and our aftercare plans follow a similar timescale.

How much does treatment cost?

It depends on the procedure, the number of areas and whether you need IV sedation. Guide prices are on our price list, and your full price, including hospital theatre fees where they apply, is confirmed in writing after consultation. Consultations cost £85 by video, £125 in clinic or £295 with ultrasound.

Is VASER liposuction a way to lose weight?

No. VASER is a contouring procedure for stubborn fat that has not responded to diet and exercise. It suits people at or near a stable weight. If you have a lot of weight to lose, we will usually suggest doing that first, because results are more predictable and surgery is safer.

Do you treat lipoedema?

Yes. Lipoedema is a chronic condition causing painful, disproportionate fat, usually on the legs and sometimes the arms. Dr Anthony uses lymph-sparing VASER techniques to reduce the fat, often over more than one stage. He is a recognised clinician member of Lipoedema UK and a member of the International Lipoedema Association.

Will I be awake during my procedure?

Usually, yes. Micro Lipo and Vaser Lipo are done under local anaesthetic. Larger procedures such as Vaser 4D Lipo are mainly done with IV sedation plus local anaesthetic, given by an anaesthetist, so you are relaxed and drowsy. Your anaesthetic plan is explained at consultation and itemised in your quote.

How long is recovery?

Most people return to desk work within a few days to a week after smaller procedures and one to two weeks after larger ones. You wear a compression garment for several weeks. Swelling settles gradually, and final contours are usually judged at around three to six months, sometimes longer after extensive treatment.

Is Contoura Medical regulated?

Yes. Consultations and procedures take place at Langham Hospital, and regulated services are provided under the hospital's Care Quality Commission registration.
