Contoura Medical offers VASER liposuction, skin tightening, lipoedema and gynaecomastia surgery, and fat grafting for adults. Every treatment is performed by Dr Edwin Anthony at Langham Hospital, Marylebone, London. This guide groups them so you can find the right page.

How our treatments are grouped

The list above runs from A to Z, but most people find it easier to start from the problem. We group treatments four ways:

  • Fat removal: the five VASER-family procedures plus Quantum Vaser Lipo.
  • Skin tightening: energy-based treatments for loose or crepey skin, from non-invasive to minimally invasive.
  • Medical conditions: lipoedema and gynaecomastia, where surgery treats a recognised condition.
  • Face and regenerative: fat grafting and facial tightening.

Non-surgical injectables and skin treatments sit with Orovenza, our nurse-led division.

Fat removal: the VASER family

All of these use VASER ultrasound to loosen fat before gentle suction. They differ in scale, anaesthetic and how much definition is sculpted. None of them is a weight-loss treatment.

  • Micro Lipo: small areas such as the chin, knees or bra roll, under local anaesthetic.
  • Vaser Lipo: one or more areas under local anaesthetic, with a natural finish.
  • Vaser 4D Lipo: contouring with more shape and light definition, mainly under IV sedation with local anaesthetic.
  • Vaser 360 Lipo: the whole torso, meaning upper and lower abdomen, flanks and lower back, in one plan.
  • Vaser Hi-Def: athletic muscle definition for lean patients with good skin tone.
  • Quantum Vaser Lipo: Vaser 4D Lipo combined with QuantumRF skin tightening in one session.

Area guides cover the flanks and back and the knees. For an overview of all options, see body contouring.

Skin tightening

These treatments heat the tissue under the skin to contract it and prompt new collagen. They help mild to moderate laxity. Heavy overhanging skin usually needs surgical removal instead, and we will tell you if that applies.

  • QuantumRF: minimally invasive subdermal radiofrequency under local anaesthetic, often used after GLP-1 weight loss.
  • Renuvion: helium plasma energy under the skin, often alongside liposuction.
  • BodyTite Turbo: internal and external radiofrequency for the body, usually with IV sedation.
  • EmbraceRF2: subdermal radiofrequency with Morpheus8 Scale & Burst microneedling for the lower face and neck.
  • Thermage FLX: non-invasive monopolar radiofrequency with no incisions.

Our skin tightening overview compares them in more detail.

Medical conditions: lipoedema and gynaecomastia

Lipoedema is a long-term condition in which fat builds up, usually in both legs, and is often painful and bruises easily. It is frequently mistaken for ordinary weight gain. In the UK Lipoedema cohort study, 90.3% of women reported easy bruising and 86.7% reported disproportionate weight loss when dieting. Published prevalence estimates vary widely, with some studies suggesting 10 to 11% of women.

Gynaecomastia means enlarged breast tissue in men. The NHS notes it is common and that surgery may not be available on the NHS. We treat both conditions with VASER liposuction, adding gland removal for gynaecomastia when firm tissue remains. Both are covered on our medical lipo and gynaecomastia pages.

Face and regenerative treatments

  • Micro and nano fat grafting: your own fat, harvested with gentle liposuction and purified, to restore volume in the face, hands or body, or to improve skin quality.
  • Face treatments: EmbraceRF2, QuantumRF and Thermage FLX for jawline, neck and facial laxity.

Surgical, minimally invasive or non-invasive?

This distinction matters more than the brand name. Surgical procedures involve small incisions, a compression garment and a planned recovery. The NHS advises avoiding strenuous activity for 10 to 12 weeks after liposuction. Minimally invasive tightening uses tiny entry points and usually means a few days of swelling. Non-invasive treatment such as Thermage FLX needs no incisions or anaesthetic.

Every procedure on this page is performed by Dr Edwin Anthony, GMC 4776646, who has carried out over 1,500 VASER procedures across 14 years of dedicated VASER practice.

Frequently asked questions

Which treatment is right for me?

That depends on whether your main concern is fat, loose skin, a medical condition or facial volume, and on your skin quality and health. Many patients need one procedure, some need a combination. Dr Edwin Anthony examines you at consultation and explains the options, including non-surgical ones, before anything is planned.

What is the difference between Micro Lipo and Vaser Lipo?

Both are done under local anaesthetic. Micro Lipo is for small, contained pockets of fat such as under the chin or around the knees. Vaser Lipo treats larger areas, using VASER ultrasound to loosen fat before removal. If you want more shape or several areas, Vaser 4D Lipo with IV sedation may be discussed.

What is the difference between Vaser 4D Lipo and Vaser Hi-Def?

Vaser 4D Lipo reduces fat and refines shape in several planes, suiting most contouring goals. Vaser Hi-Def goes further, sculpting visible muscle definition such as abdominal lines. It suits lean patients with good skin tone and needs a longer, more careful recovery. Dr Anthony trained with Dr Alfredo Hoyos in high-definition liposculpture.

Which treatments are non-surgical?

At Contoura Medical, Thermage FLX is non-invasive, with no incisions or anaesthetic. QuantumRF and EmbraceRF2 are minimally invasive, using tiny entry points under local anaesthetic. All VASER procedures, lipoedema and gynaecomastia surgery, and fat grafting are surgery. For injectables and skin treatments, see Orovenza, our nurse-led non-surgical division.

Can I tighten loose skin after weight loss without a tummy tuck?

Often, if the laxity is mild to moderate. QuantumRF, Renuvion and BodyTite Turbo heat the tissue under the skin to contract it and stimulate collagen. They cannot remove a large overhang of skin. If your skin is very loose, Dr Anthony will explain that surgical skin removal may be the more realistic option.

Can procedures be combined?

Yes, where it is safe. Common combinations are Vaser 4D Lipo with QuantumRF, which we call Quantum Vaser Lipo, liposuction with fat grafting, and liposuction with BodyTite Turbo. Combining may reduce the number of recovery periods, but it can lengthen the procedure, so the anaesthetic plan and your health are assessed first.

Is lipoedema surgery treated differently from cosmetic liposuction?

Yes. Lipoedema is a medical condition, so the aim is to reduce painful diseased fat and improve mobility, using lymph-sparing VASER techniques. Treatment is often staged over more than one operation. Surgical treatment for a medical condition is generally VAT exempt, and your plan is documented as medical care.

Who performs treatments at Contoura Medical?

Dr Edwin Anthony, Lead Clinician, GMC 4776646, personally performs every treatment listed on this page. He trained in NHS plastic surgery and burns units, holds MRCS (Edinburgh), and has more than 1,500 VASER procedures and 14 years of dedicated VASER practice. Procedures take place at Langham Hospital, Marylebone.

How much do treatments cost?

Guide prices for each treatment are on our price list. Your final price depends on the number of areas, the anaesthetic and any combined treatment, and it is confirmed in writing after consultation with theatre fees itemised. Consultations cost £85 by video, £125 in clinic or £295 with ultrasound, and finance is available.

Are results permanent?

Fat cells removed by liposuction do not grow back, but remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain, so a stable weight protects your result. Skin tightening improves laxity but skin continues to age. Fat grafting usually loses some volume in the first months before settling. Dr Anthony explains realistic expectations for each option.
