Advanced Skin Remodelling in London

Non-surgical skin tightening in London at Orovenza utilizes Morpheus8 Scale & Burst to remodel collagen and elastin beneath the skin’s surface. This advanced fractional radiofrequency microneedling treatment is our core non-surgical skin tightening modality, designed to lift, firm, and refine skin texture without the need for surgery.

By precisely targeting the deeper subdermal layers, the treatment triggers a natural healing response, encouraging biological regeneration for long-lasting, natural-looking results.

The Process

How Morpheus8 Scale & Burst Works

  1. Consultation & Assessment

Nurse Rashmi Mehta will evaluate your skin laxity and structure to ensure Morpheus8 Scale & Burst is the correct indication for your needs.

  2. Preparation

A medical-grade topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

  3. Radiofrequency Delivery

Micro-pins gently penetrate the skin, delivering targeted radiofrequency energy to the deeper layers to coagulate fat and contract connective tissue.

  4. Biological Regeneration

The controlled micro-injuries trigger a natural healing cascade, resulting in robust new collagen and elastin production over the following months.

Non-surgical skin tightening uses controlled heat from radiofrequency to firm loose skin without incisions. At Orovenza in Marylebone, London, we offer Morpheus8 Scale & Burst and Xerf for adults with mild to moderate laxity on the face, neck or body.

What it is and how it works

As we age, the skin makes less collagen and elastin, and the collagen it has becomes looser. The jawline softens and the neck becomes crepey. Non-surgical skin tightening works by heating the deeper layers of the skin to a carefully controlled temperature. That heat contracts existing collagen and prompts the skin to rebuild it over the following months.

At Orovenza, we use two radiofrequency technologies, chosen according to your skin and your priorities:

  • Morpheus8 Scale & Burst combines fine microneedles with radiofrequency, releasing energy at several depths in one pulse. It tightens and also improves texture, pores and acne scarring. For selected patients, it can be combined with topical exosomes.
  • Xerf is needle-free. Its manufacturer describes a dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency system using 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz energy to reach shallow, middle and deep tissue, with cooling to protect the surface.

For more significant laxity, non-surgical treatment has limits. In those cases, surgical options such as QuantumRF, a minimally invasive procedure that applies radiofrequency beneath the skin, are available with Dr Edwin Anthony at Contoura Medical.

Who it is best suited for

  • Adults, usually from their 30s onwards, noticing early loss of firmness
  • Mild to moderate softening of the jawline, jowls, under the chin or neck
  • Crepey skin on the abdomen, arms, thighs or above the knees
  • People who want gradual, natural-looking improvement rather than a sudden change
  • Patients who are not ready for surgery, or want to delay it

Your treatment journey at Orovenza

  1. Consultation. Nurse Rashmi Mehta assesses your skin at Langham Hospital, takes a full medical history and asks what bothers you most.
  2. Your plan. You receive an individual plan: Morpheus8 Scale & Burst, Xerf, a combination, or a referral to Dr Edwin Anthony (GMC registered) if surgery would serve you better. Dr Anthony, Lead Clinician at Contoura Medical, also prescribes any prescription-only medicines.
  3. Treatment day. For Morpheus8 Scale & Burst, numbing cream is applied first. Xerf usually needs no numbing. Most sessions take 30 to 60 minutes.
  4. Aftercare. You leave with written aftercare instructions.
  5. Review. We review your skin during and after your course, and discuss maintenance only if it is worthwhile.

Results and how long they last

Radiofrequency tightening is gradual, as most improvement comes from new collagen.

  • Cleveland Clinic reports that changes to skin tone and appearance are typically seen within two to six months, and that some people need two to six treatments.
  • With good skincare, results from radiofrequency skin tightening may last one to three years.
  • A 2026 systematic review in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery analysed 41 studies of radiofrequency microneedling, including 15 randomised controlled trials, and found it effective for laxity, photoageing and acne scarring, with mostly mild, short-lived side effects.

Recovery and aftercare

  • Morpheus8 Scale & Burst: expect redness and mild swelling for one to two days, then dryness and faint grid marks. Most people return to work within one to three days.
  • Xerf: mild pinkness and warmth that usually settle within hours. Make-up can normally be worn straight away.
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Wear broad-spectrum SPF daily, especially after Morpheus8 Scale & Burst.

Safety, side effects and who should avoid it

  • Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, warmth and tenderness. A 2025 review found redness after radiofrequency microneedling typically resolves within hours to a few days.
  • Less common effects include bruising, small scabs and, rarely, blistering or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a pacemaker or metal implants in the area, or over active infection or cold sores.
  • Morpheus8 Scale & Burst is postponed for six months after isotretinoin, and needs caution with a history of keloid scarring.
  • Check any practitioner's registration. The JCCP keeps a public register of approved non-surgical practitioners.

Frequently asked questions

How much does non-surgical skin tightening cost in London?

The cost depends on which treatment suits you, the number and size of areas, and how many sessions you need. A course of Xerf for the neck is priced differently from Morpheus8 Scale & Burst on the abdomen. Your practitioner confirms your personal cost at consultation, once your plan has been agreed.

What is the most effective non-surgical skin tightening treatment?

There is no single best treatment for everyone. Morpheus8 Scale & Burst tends to suit people who also want smoother texture or scar improvement. Xerf suits those who want firmer skin with little downtime. For heavier laxity, surgery such as QuantumRF usually achieves more. We match the option to your skin at consultation.

Does non-surgical skin tightening hurt?

Most patients find it manageable. Xerf feels like building warmth with cooling bursts and usually needs no numbing. Morpheus8 Scale & Burst is more intense, with a hot, prickling sensation, so we apply numbing cream beforehand. Settings are adjusted throughout, and you can ask for a pause at any time.

How much downtime should I expect?

With Xerf, there is usually little or no downtime, and most people return to work straight away. Morpheus8 Scale & Burst typically involves two to five days of redness, mild swelling and dryness. Choose a date with a quiet few days afterwards for microneedling.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people need a short course. Morpheus8 Scale & Burst is often one to three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, while Xerf is usually a course of several sessions a few weeks apart. Your exact number depends on your skin and goals, and we review progress rather than booking more than you need.

When will I see results?

Some firmness may be felt early, but visible results from radiofrequency tightening typically develop within two to six months, as new collagen forms. We compare photographs taken at consultation with those at review, because gradual change is easy to miss in the mirror.

How long do the results last?

Results may last one to three years with good skincare, although your skin continues to age. Many patients have a maintenance session once a year. Daily sun protection, not smoking and keeping a stable weight all help to protect the collagen you have built.

Is skin tightening safe for darker skin tones?

Radiofrequency treatments are generally considered suitable for a wide range of skin tones because they do not target pigment. Microneedling can still trigger temporary pigmentation in some people, so we take a careful history, may recommend skin preparation and use conservative settings. Strict sun protection afterwards is important.

Can I combine skin tightening with other treatments?

Yes. Many patients combine Morpheus8 Scale & Burst and Xerf, or add Profhilo, polynucleotides or anti-wrinkle injections for skin quality and expression lines. Exosomes may be used with Morpheus8 Scale & Burst for selected patients. Spacing matters, particularly around fillers, so we plan combinations at consultation.

When is surgery a better option than non-surgical tightening?

Surgery is usually better when skin is heavy, very loose or slow to spring back, for example after major weight loss or with marked neck laxity. In those cases, Dr Edwin Anthony can assess you for QuantumRF at Contoura Medical. Non-surgical treatment may still help afterwards to maintain skin quality.
